Copenhagen is known to be quite an expensive city, so any stylish yet budget-friendly hotel is most certainly appreciated amongst travelers. One such hotel is Copenhagen GO, which I got to know on my latest visit to the Danish capital. Located just 10 minutes from the airport, this two-star hotel offers everything you need for a city break. Let’s take a look inside.
Value for money
When I write about hotels, it’s usually either boutique-, design- or luxury properties, but never budget-friendly places, although I have nothing against these. In fact, I think we need more comfortable and well-equipped two or three star hotels, as they’re able to accommodate any kind of traveler. More and more budget-friendly design hotels are popping up these days in the world’s most expensive cities. “Finally!” one could argue, cause why does it have to be expensive exploring a city if you don’t want to stay in a hostel? Those days are over. Copenhagen GO Hotel fits right into this category; a comfortable no-nonsense hotel just 10 minutes by train/metro from the airport and right off the highway. The location might not be the picturesque or charming as such, but it certainly is handy. They use the term ‘value’ for money themselves, and I couldn’t agree more!
My first encounter with Copenhagen GO was, as mentioned, last month during a work trip to Copenhagen. Truth be told, I hadn’t expected much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the warm, comfy lobby, the friendly staff and my bright room over-looking a neighboring football field. The lobby is also a reception, a bar and a chill-out area with couches and chairs – perfect for a bit of relaxation after a day of exploring Copenhagen. It’s possible to buy sample-sized toiletries (starting at €1), snacks, drinks and even light meals and sandwiches if you didn’t get to have dinner in a restaurant.
Organic breakfast delights
Other valuable amenities include free laundry service, free parking and an organic breakfast buffet, which deserves some attention here! Having stayed in 2-star hotels many times before, I was expecting the usual ‘cornflakes and dry bread’-setup as I entered the newly launched breakfast restaurant of the hotel. Again, I was pleasantly surprised! The place will full to the brim of especially families with children and couples (which I assume constitute the main segment of the guests), however, I managed to get a spot for myself. Not only was the selection of products much wider than I had thought; Copenhagen GO Hotel also have the Green Key certificate, which means that 30-60% of all the food served here is organic. Well done!
There are 219 rooms (Standard and Premium), all with private bathrooms, divided into the following room types: single, double, family and group rooms with space for 8 people. A Standard single room starts at DKK 399,- (€53) per night, whereas a Standard double rooms starts at DKK 499 (€67).
I’m sure it’s not my last time staying here, as it’s both convenient, comfortable and, well – value for money!
