A royal treatment at Corinthia Hotel Budapest

Being a traveler, either by heart of profession, you occasionally come across places or destinations that simply take your breath away. Corinthia Hotel Budapest is such a place. Continue reading if you’re looking for your next perfect getaway.

The one and only Grand Hotel Budapest

Formerly known as The Royal Hotel Budapest (which originally opened in 1886), the five star Corinthia Hotel Budapest is located in a prime location in Budapest, welcoming guests with a royal entrance of gold and marble. One could call it ‘a bastion of luxury’ - the old-fashioned kind of luxury that you’ll rarely find anywhere anymore. Budapest is all about that though, so pack your bags and head to the Hungarian capital if you’re just as big a fan of glamour and luxury travel as I am.

With that being said, Corinthia Hotel Budapest, is more than just a hotel. Welcoming royals and celebrities from all over the globe, it stands as a proud symbol of Hungarian hospitality. Did I mention that it also served as inspiration for the blockbuster ‘Grand Budapest Hotel’? It did. And you’ll instantly realize why when entering the glistening lobby filled with piano music and well-dressed.

Five star gourmet and wellness

With 414 rooms, it’s a rather big hotel, but the ambience is kept stylish and relaxed. The location is very central with plenty of restaurants just outside the door, but I’d truly recommend guests dining in one of the hotel’s 3 restaurants. From authentic Asian cuisine at the Rickshaw restaurant to international delicacies at Bock Bistro (awarded one of the best restaurants in Budapest!) and French-inspired food at Brasserie & Atrium Restaurant. Being a true fan of Asian food, I was delighted to experience Rickshaw, where service was also impeccable.

Staying at Corinthia Hotel Budapest equals spa and relaxation. Budapest is home to a wide array of public spa’s and recreational areas, but if you’re up for some serious luxury and wellness, head to ‘Royal Spa’. Art Deco from 1896 meets modern spa facilities in the shape of a 15-metre swimming pool and a 1.000 m2 offering sauna, steam bath, jacuzzi and a relaxation area. If you’re here during a weekend, make sure to try out the Wellness Brunch - the ultimate Sunday afternoon treat!

Over-looking the ‘Royal Spa’

Sometimes, you feel the need for luxury and self-indulgence. When that happens, pack your bags and head straight to Corinthia Hotel Budapest! I personally can’t wait to be back at this historical gem hiding in the heart of the Hungarian capital.
