I’m not a fashion blogger, but quality fashion items have always caught my eye. The feeling you get when setting your eyes on a really nice bag or a pair of distinctive shoes that you simply know will stick with you for a very long time. A true travel companion, so to speak. Such a companion is my new bag from the Swedish brand Bolinder Stockholm.
“Fahion fades, but style is eternal”. Wise words from the first lady of fashion, Coco Chanel. This is exactly how it is with a good bag. I first noticed the sleek and simple designs from Bolinder Stockholm when I was attending a press lunch in July – one month later, I was appointed ambassador for the brand. So what sets Bolinder Stockholm apart from other brands creating quality products? The immense dedication to the entire process of creating a bag, for instance. Each bag is handmade in Italy and the distinct leather pattern is stitched together – piece by piece. It can take up to 6 months.
As much as The Copenhagen Traveler is a dedication to glamour, I’m a fan of understated chic as well. In many cases, that’s two sides of the same coin. Bolinder’s bags are very typical for Scandinavia – stylish yet laid-back – and that’s exactly what founder Ulrika Bolinder wishes to incorporate in the design. Effortless style, one could also call it.
The first collection is called ‘Grace’, inspired by Ulrika’s mother, who was an Eileen Ford it-model in New York in the 60’s. It includes a series of casual business, dinner and cocktail bags including clutches and coin purses. The tote collection, however, is my favorite. The photos show the grey tote bag with its quaint orange textile interior. This particular model measures 30×35 and is therefore perfect for everyday usage as it fits a 15″ laptop. It also comes with an adjustable leather shoulder strap, which is quite handy if you mean to bring it on your travels, like I do.
