If you happen to travel a lot – or if you just want to look like a million dollars while doing it – there’s a few and simple rules that must be followed. It’s about traveling light, but also about temperatures and choice of jewelry. Continue reading if you want to know more about the etiquette of stylish traveling.
Keep it simple!
There’s probably nothing worse than clothes in layers and heavy overcoats when standing at the airport’s check-in. It can also be a genuine nightmare when you see how narrow your seat is! The point is that no matter what happens it’s always good to cut back on things that you don’t necessarily need. Travel light and with an absolutely minimum of luggage.
We’d recommend comfortable yet chic clothes in wool, cotton or silk, which will keep you warm during your flight. Add a spacious handbag, a pair of stylish yet comfortable shoes, which will take you from a-b in no time, and you’re good to go! The daring girls can wear a pair of heels, just make sure that the gate isn’t too far away from check-in or your feet won’t thank you later!
Less is more
If you can’t go an hour without your jewellery (like me!) you should naturally wear it, but make sure not to bring piles of heavy bracelets, cocktail rings and chunky necklaces – for your own sake. When you keep it simple you tend to worry less and thereby you’ll travel easier and lighter. It’s also a good idea to avoid too many pieces that’ll clash with the security check-in stand. 9 out of 10 times you need to remove your jewellery anyway before you’re let into the terminal area. My own ‘repertoire’ of jewellery when traveling includes; a watch, a simple but chic bracelet, a ring and a necklace (which I never take off anyway).
Beauty on board
Make sure to supply your skin with lots of moisturizer both before, during and after your flight due to the high level of dryness in the air. I’m often carrying a moisturizing spray in my bag – it makes wonders on dry skin, but a normal Nivea creme or the like will do the job as well. Remember both your hands and face – and enjoy a chilly glass of champagne while you’re there anyway.
As for makeup remember to alway carry a moisturizing lipstick and a rouge in your bag. In that way you can easily ‘touch up’ after the flight. Our personal favorite is Chanel’s ‘Rouge Coco Shine’ that’s long-lasting and super moisturizing.
A good bag never go out of style. And that obviously also applies to the ones you use when traveling. Today you can easily get suitcases in excellent quality from Samsonite and Epic, but if you’re craving the real thing there’s no way around the old classic like Louis Vuitton and Hermes. Louis Vuittons iconic leather cases and trunks are ideal for traveling and they don’t just look pretty – they’re very spacious and easy to handle. It’s an investment, but a traveling companion for life.
