The luxury hotels of Denmark

We recently published this article on Scandinavia Standard. Here it is once more - for all those luxury lovers and travel addicts out there. Cause even though Denmark is a small market in terms of luxury travel, we still have a good handful of hotels offering the very best! Check in, unwind from the busy everyday life and enjoy the countless facilities of these five star properties.

Hotel d’Angleterre

Of course one cannot speak of luxury in Copenhagen without mentioning the grand old lady of d’Angleterre! This stunning property has been the epitome of joie de vivre since the 18th century – and with good reason! Its elegant interior and aristocratic facade allures both tourists and inhabitants of the city to ’take a small break’ in the cafe overlooking the square of Kongens Nytorv. The hotel has been carefully renovated and re-opened in 2013. It has 90 rooms and a restaurant with one Michelin star.

Hilton Copenhagen Airport Hotel

Whether you have to be in the airport at an ungodly hour or just need a little self-indulgence after your flight, there is no way around the Hilton at Copenhagen Airport! This is the perfect place to check in the night before departure, but one can also easily spend an entire weekend here! With a large selection of room types, a famous breakfast buffet and a lovely Oriental spa offering a broad range of treatments, there is certainly something for everyone. Oh, and it is a great place for meetings too!

Nimb Hotel

Copenhagen’s most intimate luxury hotel, and the smallest one as well, houses no more than 17 rooms and suites and takes up the number one spot when it comes to location. With a rich history beginning more than 100 years ago and stunning views towards the old Tivoli garden, this hotel is the perfect hideaway for luxury lovers.
Enjoy a dinner in the brasserie of the hotel or relax with a cocktail in the cosy bar/lounge area.

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel

Denmark’s first design hotel opened its doors in 1960 and it is still celebrated by design enthusiasts from all over the world. Arne Jacobsen has designed every single detail of the hotel – even the cutlery! And of course it has one of the best locations in the city, just next to the Central station and Tivoli.
Radisson Blu Royal offers 260 contemporary rooms and suites and it also houses a gourmet restaurant on the top floor; Alberto K. The view from here is quite spectacular, but guests are recommended to book a table in advance.

Mariott Copenhagen

If you like spacy surroundings and ocean views, Mariott Copenhagen might satisfy your needs. It is not only the biggest hotel in Denmark; here, guests can unwind just a few minutes walk from the city centre and Central station.
The hotel offers 402 elegant rooms, a fully equipped spa and a popular steakhouse restaurant, Midtown Grill, where guests can enjoy the waterfront view. While Mariott is definitely suitable for business travelers, the spacy surroundings also appeal to families who put comfort and location as top priorities.
