Our Top 5 ski destinations 2015/2016

This year’s ski season is at hand, so whether you are an experienced skier or not, it is time to start planning! Here is our top 5 destination guide for 15/16.

Arosa, Switzerland

One of the largest ski resorts in Switzerland is Arosa Lenzerheide. Visitors are pleased to find more than 225 kilometers of slope (primarily blue and red), and there are several off-piste options as well. The area is said to be snow-sure.
Switzerland is generally known for being a pricy destination – something that also applies to ski resorts – but if you choose to go here, it is a shame not to stay in one of the many legendary luxury hotels. Arosa has a wide choice of luxury hotels and chalets for rent as well as an interesting gourmet scene.

Val d’Isere, France

Val d’Isere is often referred to as the leading ski destination in France. Located close to the Italian border, the area offers something for all levels making it a paradise for both families and couples. The nightlife scene here is definitely above average; there are lots of different bars, pubs and restaurants to choose from and also a vibrant after ski scene. The many challenging pistes will attract advanced skiers. Check the snow report from IGLU Ski, who also have some great offers to Val d’Isere.

Kitzbühel, Austria

Austria has some pretty great ski resorts and one of our absolute favorites are Kitzbühel located in the federal state of Tirol. Guests can ski on 170 kilometers of slopes in up to 2000 meters. Some of the slopes are located in just 800 meters altitude, which means the area is not always snow sure, but the area has snow machines for the same reason.
For many years, Kitzbühel has been the go-to place for wealthy Germans and Austrians and the large number of luxury hotels keep attracting people, who wants to combine pleasure and skiing.
Nearest airport: Salzburg

Crans Montana, Switzerland

In our opinion, Crans Montana delivers some of the best skiing in Switzerland. This is the place to go if you prefer to stay in luxury on your ski vacation, but the area welcomes everyone. With 140 kilometers of slopes (and 70 of them being red), Crans Montana is paradise for the experienced skier, but if you do not ski at all, the destination offers plenty of high end shopping and a vibrant nightlife as well. Crans Montana is also home to a handful of gourmet restaurants.

Whistler, Canada

Europe has plenty of great ski destinations, but we had to put Whistler on the list as well, as this place guarantees superb skiing! Often referred to as the number one ski resort in the US, Whistler provides winter sport enthusiasts with literally everything; stunning scenery, great skiing for all levels and budget friendly accommodation. To put it short: this is the ideal destination for both advanced skiers, but definitely also families with children, who want to benefit from all the family friendly activities.
