I recently had the pleasure of dining at the newly opened Data Kitchen in Berlin Mitte, but this is not just any restaurant; it’s a digital eatery and the concept is spreading all over the world. Here’s how it works – and why you should check it out too.
Slow food fast. That’s Data Kitchen in 3 words. We still focus extensively on healthy food when dining out, but we don’t want to wait for it, so what’s the answer? A digital eatery like this one!
As opposed to a regular restaurant where you sit down, check the menu, order and wait for your food, a digital eatery provides you with an iPad containing a set menu. You tick off your choices of food and beverage, and 10 minutes later, your order is ready for pick-up in the automat. It might not sound very sexy, but if there’s such a thing as intelligent eating, this is it! If you’re in a hurry, you can even order your food from the website before picking it up. Even though I’m a fan of personal service and traditional restaurants, I’m pretty sure this is the future of dining.
Data Kitchen offers a healthy breakfast and lunch menu, and everything is freshly prepared. It’s also possible to drop by for a cup of coffee during the day. Data Kitchen is open daily from 9-17. For more information, go to datakitchen.berlin.
