Welcome to Grand Hotel Wien!

Old-world charm in the heart of Vienna

Luxury can be many things, but at Grand Hotel Wien in the heart of the Austrian capital, it’s all about traditions and exclusivity. The term ‘less is more’ doesn’t exactly cover it, cause the minute you set foot in the marble-floored lobby, your eyes will feast on classical furniture, pillars and golden details. In other words: true Viennese style. It’s all part of the old-world charm for which Vienna is so well-known - and guests seem to come back for this year after year. There are many regulars at the Grand Hotel Wien for one simple reason: they know that the hotel lives up to its name every time.

The grand lobby

The presence of history is still strong at the hotel, which first opened its doors in 1870. Back then, facilities included a steam elevator (!) and a telegraph office, which was nothing less than a sensation at the time. Former celebs such as Johan Strauss (the ‘father’ of the waltz) helped making the hotel famous, and that certain distinguished feeling can still be felt today.

Feel like a Royal

The hotel offers 205 rooms and suites, a wide range of restaurants and cafés and not least, the 200 m2 Grand Spa, which is an absolute must to try out during a visit! We stayed in a Junior Suite of 60 m2 and felt like royals in the king size bed!

The Grand Brasserie is located on the 1st floor of the hotel. It’s here that you can indulge in the lavish champagne breakfast or family brunch offering both local and international delicacies. The beautiful lobby lounge ‘Rosengarten’ is a popular meeting point for guests and locals alike, especially due to the cosy surroundings and opportunity of ‘people watching’. Sip a cup of tea here and you’ll immediately feel like you’ve been thrown back to the 19th century.

The gastronomical crown though, can be found on the 7th floor of the hotel. Nestling in an old loft over-looking the city of Vienna, the Michelin restaurant ‘Le Ciel’, is known to be one of the capital’s best gourmet restaurants. Here, guests can indulge in traditional Austrian dishes with an international touch created by Chef Toni Mörwald and his team. Choose between a set menu, a la carte or the popular lunch menu for €45.

I piece of heaven - or ‘Le Ciel’…
