Denmark might be small, but it is a country full of variety. Are you looking for a relaxed holiday away from busy agendas and hectic everyday life? Then consider going to the western part of Zealand in the eastern part of the country. Here you will find beautiful nature and friendly people, who can help make your holiday the perfect one.
An overlooked destination
While many people know the capital of Denmark and several other larger city areas in the country, the western part of Zealand is often neglected. Ironically enough since Copenhagen is only 1-1,5 hours away by car. Nevertheless, VisitVestsjælland (the local tourist board) has decided to put focus on the diversity of the region by making a short movie about…relaxation. Something most people in the western world have forgotten. So take a break and unwind in calm surroundings where the ocean and nature plays an important role. West Zealand is perfect for this!
The western part of Zealand is often referred to as a coastal destination, since one will find more than 340 km stretch of coast and 11 yachting harbours. Bigger cities in the area include Slagelse, Kalundborg and Sorø – all historical cities with a rich local life.
The Managing Director of VisitVestsjælland, Lars Nielsen, mentions; “We have a lot of untouched nature, nice beaches and unexpected adventures waiting for those risking to explore silence”.
